Diesel Mechanic
Description

The diesel mechanic is a hands-on position.  Under minimal supervision, the Shop mechanic directly repairs company tractors, trailers, crew trucks, and heavy equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment, and skill of personnel.
  • Monitor tool and part inventories and the condition and maintenance of shops to ensure adequate working conditions.
  • Investigate accidents or injuries and prepare reports of findings.
  • Maintain DOT records and maintenance records on each company vehicle.
  • Perform routine maintenance on all company vehicles.
  • Inspect, repair, and maintain automotive, mechanical equipment and machinery.
  • Compile operational or personnel records, such as time and production records, inventory data, repair or maintenance statistics, or test results.
  • Develop, implement, or evaluate maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Examine objects, systems, or facilities and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.
  • Conduct or arrange for worker training in safety, repair, or maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years of mechanical experience
  • 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Hydraulic and DOT knowledge a must CDL Class A recommended but not required
  • Certified DOT Mechanic
  • Air Brake/Air Conditioning knowledge a plus
